Soccer
Each Spring the boys in 5th and 6th classes take part in the FAI soccer blitz in Clonakilty.
Swimming
All of our children attend swimming lessons each year in the newly built Dunmanway swimming pool . The lessons run for 6 weeks. Everyone thoroughly enjoys these lessons and gets a great start in developing the life long skill of swimming.
GAA
Many of our children are members of the local Clann na nGael GAA club. We greatly appreciate that members of the club come to school on a weekly basis to coach all children in school in the basic skills.
We participate in the Sciath na Scol competition each year with a boys and a girls team. This is enjoyed by children from 4th – 6th classes. This year we played Dreeny NS and Castledonovan NS in a blitz in Drimoleague, and then advanced to the final in Dunmanway to defeat Rathbarry NS.

Athletics
Each year pupils from our school compete in the Cork City Sports athletics races at Páirc Uí Chaoímh. We usually win many medals, trophies and cups at this event. Children from 2nd to 6th class compete against other children of the same age from around the county.
We are grateful to our local athlete Tom Murphy who provides some athletics coaching prior to this event. We also participate in Skibbereen school sports on the May bank holiday and usually bring home some silverware.

Sports Day
During the summer term we organize a Sports Day in the school grounds. This involves many different types of races such as egg and spoon, clothes peg race, 3 legged race, obstacle courses and much more. The overall winner from each class room are presented with prizes. It is a very enjoyable day!
Orienteering
A number of orienteering classes are undertaken on the school grounds during the year for 1st to 6th classes. Here they are introduced to the basics.
The children in the senior classes participate in local orienteering events under Cork Schools Orienteering. This proves very enjoyable and they learn the skills of orienteering at an early age. They competed in competitions in Lis Ard Estate and The Long Strand.
