25th of January 2021 - 29th of January 2021

Dear Parent/guardian

Guidelines - your child should spend between one & two hours each day (Mon – Fri) at their school work.
There is no substitution for reading, so please encourage your child to read a variety of text.
If you need to contact, please email [email protected] or through Seesaw

You are and always will be your child's primary educator. If you decide that the work being sent home by the teacher is unnecessary, then don't do it. Children learn in many different ways and not just through "book learning". Some families will be able to do the schoolwork - others will be under pressure to get it done. Please don't be under any pressure to get the school work prescribed completed.

Research Project:
A Botanical Art competition for the senior classes. I would like an art poster and I would like a small project based on the flower you pick. So spend this week researching your chosen flower under the following headings:
  1. What they look like.
  2. Instructions on how best to grow this flower from seeds and when to grow them.
  3. What they need to grow: type of soil/ sunlight / shade / outdoors / indoors.
  4. What animals come to visit them
  5. Any addition heading you would like to include.
Have some diagrams in the project too and closing date for receipt of projects is the 19th of June to [email protected]
Prize for the winner is a homework voucher for September and a small prize suited to the individual winner. The current sixth class cannot avail of the H.W. voucher but a larger prize will be awarded to one of them in September should they be announced the winner.

Botanical Art Competition / Research Project
Who: This Competition is open to children in 4th, 5th, and 6th Class in Drinagh National School.

You can either draw one plant, or them all, it’s up to you! But if you wish to do more than one, please use a separate page for each one. Here is the list of plants

5th of May 2020 - 8th of May 2020

Dear Parent/guardian
I hope you all are well!
As announced schools will remain closed until September. This is very disappointing especially for our current sixth class.
I hope to have a graduation ceremony for sixth class in September/October, but again this will depend on social distancing rules and any health and safety guidelines in at that time.
Also all teachers will be posting work on the website on a Saturday evening instead of Sunday evening from next week onwards, this will hopefully make it easier for working parents.
Guidelines - your child should spend between one & two hours each day (Mon – Fri) at their school work.
There is no substitution for reading, so please encourage your child to read a variety of text.
If you need to contact me for anything please email [email protected]

20th of April 2020 - 24th of April 2020

Dear Parent/guardian
I hope everyone is well and had a nice Easter.
At the moment, we have been given no indication of when schools will reopen. I expect that schools will stay closed for a while yet.
Guidelines - your child should spend between one & two hours each day (Mon – Fri) at their school work.
There is no substitution for reading, so please encourage your child to read a variety of text.
If you need to contact me for anything please email [email protected]
You are and always will be your child's primary educator. If you decide that the work being sent home by the teacher is unnecessary, then don't do it. Children learn in many different ways and not just through "book learning". Some families will be able to do the schoolwork - others will be under pressure to get it done. Please don't be under any pressure to get the school work prescribed completed.
